There would appear to be thousands of different routes to mastery. Naturally it depends greatly on what you particularly want to master (and, in fact, figuring that out is sometimes the most difficult step in this process). It also depends on what you read.

I strive for mastery of my home based business; I have been working towards this mastery for years now. Will I ever actually get there? I’m not sure. I actually don’t think I will, but that’s more of a reflection on how I judge the concept of ‘mastery’ rather than any particular failing.

I think that mastery of any particular area is about the process of getting better at it: doing a better job and continually achieving more. It is NOT about some arbitrary ’success’ criteria, and certainly not about how much money I make from my home based business.

For me, the key to mastery of my LifePath business is the practice of self-reflection. Every week (or day, or month, or whatever) I sit down and ask myself what is going well (and consequently what I would like to repeat) and what isn’t going so well.

As I reflect today I notice that I am having enormous success with the LifePath products. These products are solid and pretty much sell themselves; I’m having huge fun building a fulfilling business around them.

What’s not going so well? At the moment, nothing! But it was these moments of introspection that allowed me to see that my previous attempt at a home based business – I tried working with Liberty League International – just wasn’t working for me. There was something ultimately unsatisfying about the products and experience that they offered.

Am I happy with the direction that I’m heading right now? You bet. Am I on the path towards mastery of my home business? Always.
